CLERMONT, Fla. - Arlene Bruce Hawkins Kelly,79, Clermont, Fla. and formerly of Dix, passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, Fla., after a brief illness following a fall at her home three weeks ago. She was born on March 22, 1931, the daughter of Harvey and Alice(Riley) Bruce of Dix. Arlene was first married to Prentiss Hawkins of Dix, and they owned the Hawkins fruit orchard at Dix. She later married Lawrence Kelly and he preceded her in death May 24, 2008. She is survived by a son, David Hawkins of Florida; a daughter, Diane Hawkins of Georgia; a twin sister, Darlene Bruce Tucker of Parumph, Nev., and a sister, Doris Robertson of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Ethel Bruce Pittman of Dix, Orpha Bruce of Centralia and Doris Guffey Bruce of Sun City, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Lawrence Kelly, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lucille Dale; and four brothers, Harry, Troy, Charles (Irvin) and Byron Bruce. Funeral services were held Nov. 22 at the Becker Funeral Home in Clermont, Fla. with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mike Conley Hospice House, 2100 Oakley Seaver Dr., Clermont, FL, 34711. Arlene had been a volunteer there prior to her accident.
