Anna Dee Dee Swofford, formerly of Mount Vernon and St. Louis, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at her daughter's residence. Survivors include daughter, Deanna McFarland of Benton; son, James Swofford of St. Louis; daughter and son-in-law, Susanne and Roger Loss of Herrin; grandchildren, Eric McFarland of Benton, Ed Daech and wife, Tammy, Elizabeth Griffith and husband, Stu, all of Carterville, and Christopher, Brittny, Bethany and Michael Loss of Herrin; great-grandchildren, Seth and Sherice McFarland of Benton and Olivia and Emily Caldwell, Samuel Griffith, Noah and Tabith Daech, all of Carterville. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Patrick McFarland. Memorial services will be at a later date. Per Dee Dee's wishes, there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959. Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin is in charge of the arrangements.
