MOUNT VERNON -- James M. "Jim" Withrow, 69, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Saturday, Oct. 5, 1940, in Harrisburg to Ray D. and Kathleen (O'Neal) Withrow. The family will greet friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, in Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Celebration of life service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, in Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with Les Mellott and Randy Sells officiating. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Withrow of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Dana Blayney and husband, Mark, of Louisville, Ky., and Dynelle Gromelksi and husband, Joe, of Mattoon; three grandchildren, Holli Gromelski of Mattoon, Grant and Madison Blayney of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Kerry Withrow and wife, Sharon, of Dallas; sister, Kay D. Johnson of Wayne City; and several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents preceded him in death. Jim worked for First Bank of Mount Carmel, Boatman's Bank and Peoples National Bank. He was a partner at ISB Insurance Agency for the last 14 years of his career, which he enjoyed immensely. He loved spending time with his friends and his hobbies included golfing, boating and home improvement projects.
