    3. Melba Inez Martin Knolhoff, 95, of Centralia, formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Centralia Manor. She was born Tuesday, June 18, 1915, in Springerton, a daughter of Charles A. and Delphia (Miller) Balsover. She married William W. Martin in Belleville on Oct. 5, 1933, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1956. She later married Ronald Sisk in Mt. Vernon on Jan. 12, 1961, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1982. She later married Lawrence H. Knolhoff in Mt. Vernon on April 13, 1985, and he survives. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Rob Dyer officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Knolhoff is survived by her husband; a son, William W. "Bill" Martin of Mt. Vernon; two stepsons, Ron Sisk of Deland, Fla. and Kenneth Knolhoff and wife Ellen of Centralia; five stepdaughters, Donna Stephens of Rock Hill, Mo., Norma Cole of Jacksonville, Fla., Alice Russum and husband John of Kimberling City, Mo., Gail Strong of San Marcos, Calif. and Donna Nunemacker of Lakeside, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Karen Backstrom and husband Mark, Tonya Zinke, Lisa Hicks, Jessie Martin and Rick Martin. Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; a son, Jerry D. Martin; a daughter, Patricia Ann Pennington; two sisters, Susie O'Dell and Norva Montgomery; and a brother, Charles Balsover. Melba owned and operated a beauty shop. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 233 of Mt. Vernon, was the eldest living church member of First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon and was member of the Naomi Circle of the church.
