    3. Jack Smith, 100, of Ouincy, Illinois and formerly of Bluford, Illinois passed away at 2:31 A.M. on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Illinois. Mr. Smith was born on Saturday, October 1, 1910 in East St. Louis, Illinois the son of the late Allen R. and Sovilla (Burkhalter) Smith. He married Ruby C. Clemins Scrivner in Bluford, Illinois on November 7, 1947 and she preceded him in death on November 23, 2008. Surviving family members include his 2 sons: Allen Smith and wife Toni of Bluford, Illinois and Artie Paul Smith and wife Cheryl of Bluford, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren also survive. His parents, wife, three brothers: Wesley, Bill and Charles Smith, one sister: Dorothy, one grandson: Cameron and two daughters-in-law: Ruth and Martha preceded him in death. Jack was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired farmer, electrician and plumber. He was a member of East Hickory Hill Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and was church treasurer for 40 years. VISITATION: will be held from 9:30 A.M. to service time at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Gale Breeze will officiate. INTERMENT: Black Oak Ridge Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois. Members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct Full Military Honors at the cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Black Oak Ridge Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
