MT. VERNON - Verna Alice Hamment, 95, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, at her residence. She was born Saturday, Jan. 8, 1916, in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of Guy and Dora (Draves) Rumohr. She married Clarence Russell hamment in 1942 in Detroit, and he preceded her in death in September of 1963. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Bud Storey officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Hamment is survived by three daughters, Donna Price and husband Earl of Bolivar, Mo., Darlene Proctor and husband Dean of Protem, Mo. and Denise Milligan of Mt. Vernon and two sons, Dale Hamment and wife Barbara of Texico and Dan Hamment and wife Jayne of Mt. Vernon. Nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son-in-law, a sister, a brother and two half brothers.
