Lucy Bell (Kelton) Allsopp, 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 6:30 A.M. at her home in Marion. Lucy was born February 10, 1923 in Williamson County the daughter of Sam "Tobe" & Ruth (Walker) Kelton. She married Kenneth Allsopp on October 15, 1972 and he preceded her in death. She has been a member of Marion Second Baptist Church since she was 12 years old. She was a clerk at Chaney's Grocery for over 35 years and for over 45 years she did volunteer work at the VA Hospital. Lucy served was a past president of the American Legion Auxillary where she helped to deliver gifts to nursing homes. She was also a member of the VFW and AmVet Clubs Survivors include; Brother - Bill Kelton and wife Joan of Mt. Vernon Sister - Lillie Barringer of Mt. Vernon Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews Preceded by Parents, Husband, Five Brothers and 4 Sisters Funeral services will be Monday, May 16, 2011 at 1 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Dr. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Marion Second Baptist Church.
