Sylvester Lamke, age 83, of Scheller, IL. passed away at 9:20 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2011 at Friendship Nursing Home in Nashville, IL. Sylvester was born on November 9, 1927 in Scheller, Illinois a son of John and Kuney (Ziarnek) Lamke. Mr. Lamke worked as a farmer and retired from Freeman Coal Mine #3 in Waltonville. He was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Scheller. Sylvester is survived by several cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial for Sylvester Lamke will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at St. Barbara's Catholic church in Scheller with Father Jean-Marie Mondji officiating. Burial will follow at St. Barbara's Catholic Cemetery in Scheller. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday June1, 2011 at the Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
