Charles L. Ellis, 75, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 3:15 A.M. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Ellis was born on Sunday, October 6, 1935 in Jefferson County, Illinois the son of the late Robert Coleman Ellis and Marjorie M. (Lively) Ellis. He married Nina Stelle on January 14, 1956 in Belle Rive, Illinois. Surviving family members include his wife: Nina Ellis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 sons: Bobby Ellis and wife Carla of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, John Ellis and special friend Cathy of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Travis Ellis and wife Heather of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 5 daughters: Linda Robinson and special friend Bobby Arnett of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Susan Bodine of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Stacy Ellis and fiance Terrence Vance of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Jennifer Williams and husband Chris of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Amber Garcia of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 sisters: Norma Ester of St. Louis, Missouri, Margie Helen Pelc of Brookfield, Illinois and Lois Cordian and husband "Cordie" of Brookfield, Illinois; 22 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents, one son: Ricky Ellis and two brothers preceded him in death. Charles worked for Lay's Manufacturing, Inc. for 8 years and East Side Lumber Company for 20 years and was currently a taxi driver for American Cab Company in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He enjoyed life, family and friends and was of the Baptist faith VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Ellis will be cremated following the visitation.
