William C. Stief Sr., 59, of Mt. Vernon, died at 2:05 a.m. May 6, 2011, at his residence. He was born Dec. 31, 1951, in Salem, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Wimberly) Stief. He is survived by two sons, Tom Stief of Mt. Vernon and William Stief Jr. of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leroy Edward Stief; and a sister, Rose Geiler. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn with the Rev. D. Wayne Heil officiating. No visitation will be held. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn.
