    3. MT. VERNON - Hazel E. Jones, formerly of Bluford, passed away April 21, 2011, at Bethesda Dilworth in St. Louis, Mo. She was born July 3, 1909, in Meridian Township, Clinton County, to Henry and Alice (Charlton) Lippert. She married Charles Lincoln Jones on April 28, 1929. Mrs. Jones is survived by a niece, Bertie Rader and husband Bill of St. Louis, Mo.; a great-niece, Carla Juelfs and husband John, also of St. Louis, Mo.; and a special friend, Sandra L. Richardson of Bluford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Lydia (Lippert) Hake. Hazel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bluford and served as church clerk for 35 years from 1959 to 1994. She was the treasurer for the village of Bluford from October 1974 through March 6, 1978, and again from Dec. 4, 1978, through May 1998. After retiring, she moved to St. Louis, Mo., to be near her niece and great-niece. She will be missed by family and friends. Private services were held at Kutis Affton Chapel with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.
