BELOVED Marcia Y. Karnes, 55, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 8:04 A.M. on Monday, May 30, 2011 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mrs. Karnes was born on Thursday, December 1, 1955 in Marysville, California the daughter of Gene "Tom" and Martha (Liles) Peek. She married Randy Karnes and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2001. Surviving family members include her parents: Gene "Tom" and Martha Peek of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Randy Karnes, Jr. and special friend Shyla Heck of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; daughter: Stephanie Resch and husband Dustin of Hermitage, Tennessee; grandson: Phoenix Karnes of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister: Crystal Garrison and husband Bob of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; brother: Stan Peek and wife Robin of Rosamond, California; 2 nieces: Lindsey Rich and husband Nathan of Haubstaudt, Indiana and Raven Summers of Rosamond, California; nephew: Landon Bevis and wife Erin of Texico, Illinois; special friends: Debbie Chiapelli and Karin Weaver. Her grandparents and her husband preceded her in death Marcia was a driver for American Cab Company in Mt. Vernon, Illinois; she loved reading, playing Bingo and Yahtzee with her friend Debbie, she dearly loved and was very proud of her grandson Phoenix and she was of the Baptist faith. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Jim Duncan will officiate.
