    3. Ruby Pearl Spann, 89, of Sesser died at the Herrin Hospital at 6:10 p.m. Monday May 23, 2011. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday May 27, at the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser with Brother Bryant Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Sesser. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home. Mrs. Spann was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Rend City, the daughter of Nat and Lettie (Miller) Brown. She was married on Aug. 9, 1941, to Dwight P. Spann, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2000. Ruby was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. Survivors include three daughters, Rosalie Nelson of Murphysboro, Doris Wehmeyer and friend Joe Landau of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Alice Galloway and friend Dave Swetland of Sesser; one brother, Delbert Brown of Sesser; 10 grandchildren, Melody Olguin and Bobbie Ruffino of Murphysboro, Frank Olguin of Green River, Wyo., Robert Olguin of Girard, Anita Wilson and husband Gary of Ramsey, Sheri White of Virden, Tonya Spann Kennedy and husband Eric of Mt. Vernon, Melinda Allen and husband Chad of Mt. Vernon, Frank Wehmeyer and wife Terri of Paducah, Ky., Aaron Wehmeyer and wife Candy of Bloomington, and Randie Skorch and husband Marty of Scheller; 18 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; everal nieces and nephews; and special family friends Laura and Larry Johnston of Mt Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Dwight Dean Spann; three brothers; and two sisters. Special thanks to her caregivers, Linda Acosta, Shirley Bradley and the late Reba Harris. A special thanks to Charlotte Brown, Dr. Parks and the Herrin hospital staff.
