MT. VERNON - John D. Lemmon, 82, died at 7:30 a.m. April 29, 2011, at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Scheller, to Gale and Mattie (Campbell) Lemmon. He married Dorothy (Wilson) Lemmon on June 18, 1952. They had three children, Jackie Hayes of Belle Rive, Gary Peyton of Aurora, Colo., and Donna Jean (deceased). He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James Lemmon, Charles Lemmon and Glen Lemmon. He was a retired Seg. Major from the military and also retired after 15 years from the postal service. He was a member of Wayne City Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel with Brother Ron Trotter officiating. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery with military rites. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
