Celia May Burgin, 91, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 4:39 A.M. on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Burgin was born on Tuesday, February 17, 1920 in Jefferson County, Illinois the daughter of the late Preston and Alice (Sullivan) Knappier. Surviving family members include her son: Richard Burgin and wife Carolyn of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 grandsons: John Burgin and wife Kathy of Mount Washington, Kentucky, Thomas Burgin of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Scott Burgin and wife Tracy of Tampa, Florida; 8 great grandchildren: Amy Bray and husband Paul, Jake, Shelby, Andrew, Cierra, Daniel, Sydney and Reese Burgin; great great grandson: Hunter Bray; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Celia was a homemaker, a caregiver for disabled patients in their homes and was of the Baptist Faith. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Marty Mills will officiate. The family will greet friends from 2:00 P.M. until the service time at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Hospice of the Good Samaritan and will be accepted at the funeral home, cemetery or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
