MT. VERNON - Velma L. Wilson, 89, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the Friendship House of Centralia. She was born on Feb. 10, 1922, the daughter of Aubrey and Minnie (Ploesser) Borman. She married Leslie Wilson on Aug. 28, 1943, in Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Wilson retired from the Florsheim Shoe Factory as a shoe cutter. She is survived by a sister, Wanda Peper of Centralia; a nephew, Kent Peper and wife Mary Ellen of Walnut Hill; a great niece, Emma Peper; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Bro. Brad Hensen officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
