Steven Lee Harrison, 54, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 3:32 A.M. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Steve was born on January 9, 1957 in Marion, Illinois the son of Carl and Reba (Orso) Harrison. He married Gina Sanders on March 24, 1979 at Boyd Christian Church in Boyd, Illinois. Surviving family members include his parents: Carl and Reba Harrison of Herrin, Illinois; wife: Gina Harrison of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 sons: Jeffrey Harrison and wife Emily of Woodlawn, Illinois, Jason Harrison and fiancee Chelsea Williams of Collinsville, Illinois and Joel Harrison and girlfriend Rylie Bruce of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; grandson: Kayden Harrison of Woodlawn, Illinois; father and mother-in-law: Melvin and Dessie Sanders of Woodlawn, Illinois; grandmother-in-law: Mary Strain Adams of Bonnie, Illinois; several cousins also survive. He first worked as a coal miner for Old Ben Coal Company and currently worked as a Special Education teacher at Mt. Vernon Township High School and was the freshman girls basketball coach and coached the soccer program at the high school since its conception in 2001. Steve was a member of Central Christian Church. VISITATION: will be held from 3 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Jamie Allen will officiate. For those who wish, memorials may be given to Central Christian Church High School Ministry or Mt.
