MT. VERNON - James M. "Jimmy" Lewis, 51, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 4:23 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at his home in Mt. Vernon. He was born Thursday, Jan. 14, 1960, in Mt. Vernon, a son of James H. and Sara R. (Quinn) Lewis. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Mr. Johnathan Schnautz officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Jimmy is survived by his father, James H. Lewis of Dix; two sisters, Phyllis Garner and Tom Duncan of Mt. Vernon and Suzi Ripplinger and husband Danny of Highridge, Mo.; two nephews, Mike Lewis of Anaheim, Calif., and Jeff Garner of Carterville; two nieces, Melanie Brant and husband Tim of Indianapolis, Ind., and Christy Garner of Mt. Vernon; four great-nephews, Anthony and Alex McKinney of Mt. Vernon and Sean and Jacob Brant of Indianapolis, Ind.; and a great-niece, Alexis McKinney of Mt. Vernon. His mother and his grandparents preceded him in death. Jimmy worked at Vernwood Press in Mt. Vernon and later was associated with Lewis Vinyl Products in Bluford. He was an avid NASCAR fan (especially of the driver Jeff Gordon) and he loved to hunt and fish and was an avid barbecue griller known by his family as "King of the Grill."
