MT. VERNON - Alton E. Mack, 64, of Mt. Vernon, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born on Jan. 12, 1947, in McKinney, Texas, the son of Alton and Edna (Lindsey) Mack. He married Betty Tucker and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Mack is survived by a daughter, Rona Athey of Moore Park, Calif.; a son, Alton Mack of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Russell of McKinney, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Mack was a retired planner and estimator for the U.S. government. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam era. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
