Donald "Buck" Rodgers, 73, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:59 A.M. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Buck was born on Monday, December 20, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the son of the late Melvin "Red" Rodgers and Chestine (Bradley) Rodgers. Surviving family members include his daughter: Tracey Maxedon and husband Glenn of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Michael Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 granddaughters: Ashley Lehde and fiance Matt Sweeten of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Molly Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Tonya Maxedon of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; great granddaughter: Allie Sweeten of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 sisters: Shirley Belmont of Bluford, Illinois and Mary Green and husband Charles of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; special friend: Debbie Mezo of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; special lifelong friend: Myrna Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. His parents preceded him in death. Buck was in sales, banking and investments, was a member of the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge 819 and enjoyed his Wednesday night gathering with friends, was a fan of the St. Louis Rams as well as many other sports and he enjoyed boating, gardening and the outdoors. VISITATION: was held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: were held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Reverend Bill Bradley and Reverend Jerry Wolfe officiated. INTERMENT: Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
