Rosetta Kay King, 70, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:53 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at her home. She was born Friday, March 17, 1941, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Gilbert W. and Edna F. (Weatherford) Hoffman. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Jefferson County with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no visitation. Ms. King is survived by three sons, Gary King and wife Celia of Opdyke, J.R. King and wife Debbie of Mt. Vernon and Ricky King of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Rosemary Hendley of Lubbock, Texas and Sherry Butler and husband Kenneth of Vienna; a brother, Melvin Hoffman and wife Jeanette of Mt. Vernon; and two sisters, Phyllis Henry and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon and Donna McGovern of Mt. Vernon. 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ed Weatherford and C.L. Hoffman; and a son, Larry King. Kay was a lifetime member of the AMVETS Auxiliary, the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and she also volunteered with helping area veterans any way she could. She was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the the King family and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
