Bruce Hill, 50, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 6:47 A.M. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Bruce was born on Monday, September 12, 1960 in Litchfield, Illinois the son of Donald and Jean (Hertenstein) Hill. Surviving family members include his mother: Jean Hill of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Chris Hill of Pennsylvania; grandson: Laydon Hill of Pennsylvania; grandmother: Marcella Peacock of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister: Teri Hill-Bright and husband Mike of Chickamauga, Georgia; brother: Jason Hill; niece: Amelia Hill of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; aunt: Cheryl Lankford and husband Gary of of Walnut Hill, Illinois; uncle: Gerald Peacock and wife Marla of West Vriginia. His father and his grandfather: Francis Peacock preceded him in death. Bruce was a building contractor in Texas for several years and later worked for Acme Pest Control in Mt. Vernon and was of the Protestant faith. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to Service Time 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Jimmie Bledsoe will officiate. Mr. Hill will be cremated following the funeral service.
