Richard Body, 78, of Mattoon, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Funeral services honoring his life will begin at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Ave., in Mattoon with pastor Lou Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery with military rites. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Richard was born March 13, 1932, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Floyd and Blanche (Scott) Body. He married Barbara (Lowery) Body on July 7, 1952; and she preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 2009. Survivors include his son, David Body and wife Cheryl of Mattoon; his daughter, Pam Bartlett and husband Chris of Mattoon; and four grandsons, Clint Body and wife Gretchen, Derek Bartlett and wife Jessica and Sam Crosnoe all of Mattoon and Trevor Bartlett and wife Brittney of Normal; and two great-grandsons, Carson Body and Tyson Body, both of Mattoon. Richard served in the Korean War from Feb. 5, 1952, until Sept. 20, 1953 as a sharp shooter in the Infantry. He retired from Clark Foundry and was the co-owner of D-R Auto Body. He was also a member of Central Christian Church. He loved his family, friends, travel, flowers, birds and his Chihuahua, Peggy Sue.
