Scott Alan Whiting, 51, of Vienna, Va., and formerly of McLeansboro, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Whiting was a self-employed carpenter. He was born Jan. 16, 1960, in Woodstock, a son of Thomas A. and Norma Jean (Moore) Whiting. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Dahlgren, at a later date. Survivors include his mother, Norma Jean Whiting; five brothers, Thomas Wright and wife Ruth of Stafford, Va., John Whiting and wife Sandra of Virginia Beach, Va., Terry Whiting of Stafford, Va., Steve Whiting and wife Eva of Lakeland, Fla., and Kelly Whiting and wife Sonja of Ina; one sister, Jodi Schuster and husband Stephen of Dahlgren; several nieces and nephews; and three great-nephews. Mr. Whiting was Baptist by faith. He loved to tinker and work on projects. He was prececed in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Marie Moore and Arthur and Josephine Whiting; one brother, Roger Whiting; one sister, Rhonda Whiting; and one nephew, Justin Wright.
