passed away at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born on April 25, 1923, in Sims, to Frank and Bessie (West) Gray. He married Eva Austin on Oct. 12, 1946, and she survives. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Wayne City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Will Dueal officiating. Interment will follow at Thomason Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wayne City United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Gray is survived by a daughter, Bonna Levya and husband Edward of Woodlawn; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. He was a retired school teacher. He graduated from Wayne City High School and also from Southern Illinois University. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge #759 and the Illinois Retired Teachers' Assocation. He was a past governor of the Lincolnland District of Ruritan International, and was on the health board, the mental health board and the Wayne-White Electric Coop. He was a member of the Wayne City United Methodist Church in Wayne City. He served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II.
