nnie Kathleen Patterson, 86, of Opdyke, Illinois passed away at 10:49 A.M. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Patterson was born on October 11, 1924 in Parke County, Indiana the daughter of the late Thomas Angus Short and Nellie Virginia (Prouse) Short. She married George Robert Patterson on April 24, 1943 in Columbia, Missouri and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1974. Surviving family members include her sons: Stephen Ray Patterson of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Robert Joseph "Bob" Patterson and wife Linda Kay of Opdyke, Illinois; brother: William L. Short of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, husband, two brothers: Robert and Tommy Short and one sister: Betty Biggerstaff preceded her in death. Jennie was a sales clerk at Super X Drugstore in Mt. Vernon for 19 years and later was a Wal-mart greeter and a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Merle Fullerton will officiate. VISITATION: No public visitation will be held. For those who wish, memorials may be given to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home, cemetery or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
