Leila Rose Porter, 67, of Texico, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at her home. She was born in Texico on Aug. 4, 1943, the daughter of Lester and Vera Shafer Lagow. She married Harley Ray Eller. She later married Melvin Porter and he survives in Texico. Mrs. Porter graduated from Bluford High School and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital for 37 years until retirement. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kim Clemons and friend Brian Hooten of Mt. Vernon; three stepdaughters, Melynn Vasquez and husband Rick of Middletown, Raina Campbell and husband Danny of Thompsonville and Linda Stoker of Iuka; a stepson, Dwayne Porter of Thompsonville; a brother, Norman Lagow and wife Sharon of Texico; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Michael Ray Eller. He funeral service will be Saturday, March 5, at 1 p.m. at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
