I've finally had a brick wall breakthrough and have found the parents of my grandmother Sarah M. Carter. They are Edward W. Carter and Mary Ann Wells. Edward and Mary Ann were married in Jefferson County Aug. 26, 1841 and both died in 1846. Sarah was born in 1842. I suspect he may be a brother to William Habe Carter and James B. Carter. Both of these Carters were also born in TN around the same time frame and came to Jefferson County. William Habe was also married to Tabitha Wells, cousin to my Mary Ann Wells. Does anyone have any information on these Carters? Thanks, Michelle
Michelle, I don't have anything on the Carters except for William "Hobe" Carter that married Tabitha Wells , then Sarah Sursa, my line. I have Edward and Mary in my data base and have her parents as Jonathan Wells and Mary "Polly"Jones. Happy for the breakthru. Thank you Mary! Hi Phyllis, Yes I was quite happy for the breakthru. Do you happen to know the parents of your William "Hobe" Carter or any of his siblings?
