Natalie Louise Chesley, 95, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 5:10 P.M. on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Chesley was born on October 14, 1915 in Lynn, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Hector MacKay and Louise (Harmon) MacKay. She married Gerald Chesley on November 10, 1934 in Lynn, Massachusetts. He preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage on March 28, 1992. Surviving family members include her daughter: Mary Jane Chesley of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; brother: Donald MacKay of Peabody, Massachusetts; several nieces and 1 nephew also survive. Her parents, husband, daughter: Sandra Grimm, brother: Irvin MacKay and sister: Dorothy MacKay preceded her in death. Natalie graduated from Lynn English High School and later attended nurses training at Lynn General Hospital in Lynn, Massachusetts. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Chesley Bus Service and during World War II and she worked for General Electric in Massachusetts. Natalie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon for over 50 years. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Federated Civic Club, Mt. Vernon Women's Club and the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge. She was a homemaker and worked part time as a school nurse for Jefferson County schools. She also worked on Angels on Assignment with the church and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and bridge player. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Victor Long will officiate. INTERMENT: Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois
