Kevin D. Smith, 51, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 5:02 P.M. on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Kevin was born on May 25, 1959 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the son of the late Dale Francis and Phyllis Irene (Chapman) Smith. He married Mary Meyer Smith and she currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri. Surviving family members include his wife: Mary Meyer Smith of St. Louis, Missouri; mother-in-law: Diane Meyer; stepdaughter: Karen; brother: James "Jamie" A. Smith of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 uncles: William Chapman and Jack Miller; 2 aunts: Iris Miller and Helen Smith; cousins: Karen Browning, Gina Smith, Mike Lampp, Gary Smith, and Renee Byrd and many more; close family friends: Norma Knox, Lindell and Shari Knox, Tim Knox, Dan and Erika Knox, Kenneth and Bethany Benjamin and Gary and Lydia Emery and many more. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Shelly Rae Smith and his grandparents. Kevin worked at Wal-Mart in the meat department and attended Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Marty Mills will officiate. INTERMENT: East Salem Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois
