MT. VERNON - Ramona Elliston, age 82, of Waltonville, passed away at 3:22 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon. Ramona was born Sept. 22, 1928, in rural Jefferson County, a daughter of Joe and Grace (Wells) Jaco. She married James Roy Elliston on Aug. 10, 1946, in rural Waltonville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1985. Ramona was a farmwife and homemaker. She was a long-time member of the West Long Prairie Christian Church. Ramona is survived by one son, Terry Elliston and wife Mary of Waltonville; two grandsons, Jared Elliston and wife Crystal of Waltonville and Mark Elliston and special friend Heather Crane of Waltonville; and also many special cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with Pastor David Shores officiating. Burial will follow at Black Cemetery in Rural Jefferson County . Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
