    3. Monroe Jones Webb, 88, of Ewing, IL, died at 4:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Kindred Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Mr. Webb was born on September 27, 1922 in Franklin County, IL the son of Rex Elias Webb and Della Imogene (Jones) Webb. His wife Dorothy Louise Fields survives him. They were married November 27, 1947. Monroe was a retired farmer and worked as a welder for area coal mines. He served his country as a bombardier navigator in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of the New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Benton, IL. Monroe was a member of the U.M.W.A., Benton American Legion, Benton Masonic Lodge, Hamilton County Ageless Iron Club, Franklin County Farm Bureau, Southern Illinois Photographic Society, Good Sam Camping Club a founding member of the Middle Fork Property Rights Association, and board member of the Franklin County Genealogical and Historical Society. After his retirement he enjoyed camping, photography, antique tractors, and spending time with his family. Surviving relatives include his wife, Louise Webb, Ewing, IL, four daughters, Janice Louise Baker, McLeansboro, IL, Joyce (Randal) Kane, Swansea, IL, Debra (Ronnie) York, Enfield, IL, Sharon (Mahlon) Hewitt, Springfield, IL, six grandchildren, Jill Louise (Thomas) Meisel, Murfreesboro, TN, Kelly (Matthew) Whitney, Smithton, IL, James Monroe Gleeson, Washington, DC, Shannon Kingston, Norris City, IL, Kristen York, Enfield, IL, Madison Hewitt, Springfield, IL, four great-grandchildren, Allison Louise Meisel, Thomas James Meisel, Jr., Nicholas Matthew Whitney, Cole Kingston, two sisters, Mary Ellen Hornbrook, Charlottesville, VA, Della Mae Johnson, Dardeen Prairie, MO, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Webb, two grandchildren, John Gleeson, Jr. and Justin York. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Elder John O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Fork Cemetery, Ewing, IL with military rites performed by the Benton American Legion and V.F.W.
