GARY Steven Rose, 64, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Rose was born in Oak Park but had lived in Florida before returning in 2008. He was a retired aluminum siding contractor. He was also a long standing member of the Moose Lodge. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Rose; a son, Gary Rose; and a grandson, Ethan Stover. Mr. Rose is survived by his former wife and long time friend Jean Bell; daughter, Cynthia Stover; son-in-law, Brent Stover; sister, Susan Osing; brother-in-law, Greg Osing; brother, Kenneth Rose; five grandchildren, Serena Waite, Sean Sweetin, Shannon Sweetin, Brittany Meadows and Briana Meadows; four great-grandchildren; and nephew, John Cory Rose. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kirk Cemetery in Ina with Bro. Brad Ryan officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery on Thursday. Johnston Funeral Home in Ina is in charge of arrangements.
