Carolyn Sue Ellingsworth passed away June 7, 2011, at her home in Hampton, Va. She was born Jan. 28, 1941, in Herrin, to the late Herman Lee and Genieva Helen (Stone) Roland. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Herman Charles Roland. Sue lived a full life. She grew up in Herrin and Gilchrist, Ore. Sue moved to Mt. Vernon and married Forrest Ellingsworth in 1963. Their life together took them to Oregon, Texas, New Mexico, North Carolina and Kentucky. They later settled in Hampton, Va. A love of the ocean made the Carolina outer banks and Ocracoke Island her favorite places to visit. Sue is survived be her husband, Forrest; daughter, Cherise; son, David Scott Ellingsworth and wife Vicky; granddaughter, Morgan; brother, Don Roland; sister, Cathy Frazier; special aunt, Margaret Farmer; and a host of relatives and lifelong friends. The family will receive guests at 2 p.m. Sunday with memorial service at 3 p.m. at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
