Danny Ray Bullard, 59, of Sims, died 12:27 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at his residence in Sims. He was born May 16, 1952, in Salem, the son of the Rev. Marshall Bullard Sr. and Aline (Shreve) Bullard. He married Diane (Talbert) Bullard on April 27, 1974; she survives in Sims. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bullard is survived by his sons, Nathan (Julie Weaver) Bullard of Texico and Ethan Bullard of Sims; a grandson, Drake Bullard; sisters Patricia (Sam) Redburn of Pittsburg, Linda (Ron) Bryant of Thayer and Marcie (Mark) Overton of Keenes; brothers Donnie Bullard of Thompsonville, Marshall (Susan) Bullard Jr. of Sims and Bill (Tina) Bullard of Keenes; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Bullard attended and graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, obtaining his master's degree. He was a retired school teacher having taught 34 years. He taught at Farrington Grade School, Sims Grade School, Wayne City Grade and High Schools and served as a school counselor at Wayne City High School for seven years. He was a member of Union Star General Baptist Church for many years, serving as a deacon and treasurer until the church closed in February 2010. He then attended Sims Congregational Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sims Congregational Christian Church. Burial will be at New Home Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sims Congregational Christian Church. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the 2012 Wayne City High School Scholarship Fund in memory of Dan Bullard, or to the family toward medical expenses. Arrangements are conducted by the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, Fairfield
