GERALD ALAN "JERRY" SHIELDS, 46, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 4:44 P.M. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at St. Mary's Health Center in Clayton, Missouri. He was born on Friday, July 10, 1964, in Belleville, Illinois, a son to the late Garold & Evelyn (Outland) Shields. He married Vickie Hinson on July 8, 1988 in Dyersburg, Tennessee and she survives in Bluford, Illinois along with two Sons: Brad Bane and wife D. J. of Finley, Tennessee and Ryan Alan Shields of Bluford, Illinois; Daughter: Cassie Shields and fiancé Josh Fuller of Bluford, Illinois; Granddaughter: Ryleigh Ann Fuller of Bluford, Illinois; Brother: Gary Shields and wife Jeanene of Bluford, Illinois; two Nephews: Donald Shields of Eureka, Missouri and Charles Shields of Mount Carmel, Illinois and an Aunt: Geraldine Shields of Mount Vernon, Illinois. Along with his parents, his grandparents: Ross & Wintress Shields, Elmer & Cora Outland preceded him in death. Jerry was a road maintenance worker, was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post #1193 of Bluford, was founder of Puncheon Creek Sportsmanâ?Ts Club and was an avid fan of Cardinals baseball. VISITATION will be from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 6, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois, with Reverend Don Rector officiating. INTERMENT will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
