Thomas "Tom" C. Underwood, Jr., 25, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 7:29 A.M. on Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was born on Saturday, February 2, 1985 in Mattoon, Illinois the son of Thomas C. Underwood, Sr. and Barbara Ann Payne. Surviving family members include his maternal grandparents: Donald Payne and wife Marie of Woodlawn, Illinois and JoAnn Lehde of Sring Hill, Florida; mother: Barbara Ann Underwood of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; father: Thomas C. Underwood, Sr. and wife Kim of Prattville, Alabama; sister: Crystal Ann Underwood of Decatur, Illinois; step-sisters: Jennifer Stone and husband Josh of Prattville, Alabama and Sonya Cox and husband Sean of Montgomery, Alabama; step-brother: Nick Sheets and wife Jessica of Lewistown, Illinois; uncle: Allan Payne and wife Ellen of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; aunts: Diana Underwood of Bedford, Indiana, Cathy Blackwell and husband John of Springville, Indiana and Patty Long and husband Bob of Terre Haute, Indiana. His paternal grandparents: Thomas Jefferson and Juanita Underwood and his maternal grandfather: Gene Lehde preceded him in death. Tom was employed by Walgreens Distribution Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was loved dearly and will be truly missed by everyone that knew him. Private services will be held.
