John W. Clark, 85, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center. He was born Aug. 13, 1925, in McLeansboro, the son of James and Elma Jane (Webb) Clark. John was a statastician and was employed by Unocal Corporation. He attended West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon. He was a past member of the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Clark is survived by a daughter, Gay Lee Hintz and husband Scott; three grandsons, Matthew, Aaron and Christopher Hintz; a sister, Anna Faye Capps and husband Arthur of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Donald Dean Clark of Harrison, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry Kent and Stephen Gary Clark. Private family graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Interment will follow.
