Charles Robert Witges, 72, of Scheller, Illinois passed away 2:10 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon. Charles was born April 27, 1938 in Scheller, Illinois the son of Theodore and Verna (Klingler) Witges. Charles was a farmer and served as Road Commissioner for Bald Hill Township for many years. Charles was of the Catholic Faith. He is survived by two daughters Cindy and husband Shawn Woodward of Iuka, IL. and Kathy and husband Steve Brightwell of Jonesboro, GA.; one son Chris Witges and wife Amy of Scheller; one brother Leo Witges and wife Helen of Scheller; one sister Alice Radake of Affton, MO.; one sister-in-law Hilda Witges; and six grandchildren Erica, Jessica, Ciara, Ashton, Eli, and Alaina. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard Witges and Leonard Witges; and two sisters, Hilda Kowalski and Dorothy McKay. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday January 18, 2011 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Scheller, with the Father Jean-Marie Mondji officiating. Burial will follow at St. Barbara's Catholic Cemetery in Scheller. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville.
