Ronald Eugene Bigley, 67, of Dix, died at 4:37 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at his brother's residence in Mt. Vernon. He was born Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1943, in Jefferson County, the son of Thomas Earl and Ira Mae (Ellis) Bigley. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harmony Cemetery in Jefferson County with the Rev. Don Rector officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Bigley is survived by five brothers, Billy Earl Bigley and wife Judi of Joliet, Rodney Bigley and wife Susan of Bluford, Steven Bigley and wife Janet of Mt. Vernon, Stanley Bigley and wife Charlene of Mt. Vernon and Michael Bigley of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Neta Stuber and husband Curt of Mt. Vernon; several nieces and nephews; and good friend Steve Wright of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles "Ricky" Richard Bigley and Kenneth Wayne Bigley. Ronald first worked at Keele Feed Co. in Dix then bartended at the American Legion in Bluford and later stocked at Kmart. He enjoyed barrel racing and was of the Methodist faith.
