    3. Welcome to the world of surname variations. The JCI branch seem to stick with Durden or Dirden. Mostly Durden. Others branches used Darden and Dirden. Yes Lucretia mother is Mary Magdalen Leach, I guess dau of William & Mary Delilah Ellis Leach Karen's step ancestor. Yes, that is them in 1850 hickman co Tn, probable two others beside Wm , James and Alfred as related maybe brothers or 1st cousins. No one seems to have evidence to support any relationship. Wm & James went to MO/AR some of James's descendant back and forth >From MO to Carbondale ,IL Area. James has descendants with the name Henry Holland, and Karen my wife a descendant of Henry Hollen Durden d 1896 JCI of JCI family finder matched with a descendant of Alfred but unable to tell if it's on the darden/Dirden line or other names. Ellender & James death certificates give their mothers names as Watkins, Thus Mary Watkins the mother of Ellender,Lucy, James and Jacob latter being Karen's and are related to the Watkins of Mecklenburg County,VA.. (John, Joseph) This tree seems to have the most documentation on Watkins. http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/33104276/family/pedigree Lonnie fink Lonfink@comcast.net > On Aug 29, 2014, at 3:00 AM, iljeffer-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > Message: 3 > Date: Thu, 28 Aug 2014 20:32:02 -0700 > From: Sandy Bauer <sandy@whalen-family.org> > Subject: Re: [ILJEFFER] Edith M Levall Bailey 1899 1974 > To: Sheldon Jones <srjones@pcisys.net>, iljeffer@rootsweb.com > Message-ID: <53FFF432.5070902@whalen-family.org> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed > > Can't seem to decide how to spell the name from 1860, 1870 and 1880 census. > > I think this might be him and first wife and 1st child in 1850 census too: > > 1850 census Hickman Co, TN - > > Henry H. 3. Hard to tell on the 1860 census. Could be e or i but does not look a to me. Henry H. age 37 Mary age 20 Lucy A. age 12 James age 10 Jacob J. age 5 Jane age 1 Appears Henry was married previously. Certainly 20 year old Mary could not be mother of the older children.
