We are lucky that we have DNA testing now, at least we know for sure that William and Jonathan are not related to William Wells/ Sarah Westmoreland and John B. Wells/Anne. I really hope that someday soon, someone from John Allen Wells will get tested so that we can determine once and for all whether he is a brother also. I would love to know who E C Wells is and how he/she is related. Hi Cindie, I am related to William Wells, Sr. through his son William P. Wells, Jr and his son Thomas P. Wells. As Phyllis stated we do not yet know who the parents of William and Jonathan are but we do know who they aren't[see above]. I'm curious to see what information you have that points to the father of John Allen Wells. I have not found any info which would help identify if he is even a brother to William and Jonathan. Hasten Wells is a son of John B. Wells and is not related to our Wells. Nebraska and Dicey are grandchildren of William Wells through William's son Henry. I would be happy to share info with you as I have no information on Earl A. Wells or his descendants. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Wells Puckett. I agree that the Westmoreland surname is not of our ancestry. Below is a message I received long ago that I agree with. It's been a long time since we've been in contact. I hope everything has been okay with you and your family! I'm still plugging away trying to find all my brick walls including the parents and siblings of William and Jonathan. I have recently gotten back to looking at the Wells line and was looking at Orin's DNA results when I realized that we finally have definitive proof that both William Wells/Sarah Westmoreland and John B. Wells/Anne are NOT the parents of William and Jonathan. LOL, sometimes it takes awhile for the light bulb to go on. I'm sure this info has been available for years now. So now that we know who it isn't, who does that leave left? I'm still trying to look at the Pike County, IL angle and have been looking into a James Wells that seems to have been born sometime between 1770 - 1780, which would put him into the right timeframe. I'm also looking into an E.C. Wells buried in Wolf Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County. Gravestone states E.C. Wells Died Nov 16, 1845 90y4m?d. Calculated birth year would be about 1755. Buried in a row are James T. & Mary Wells, broken stone Davis, E.C. Wells, Lucinda Davis. So whoever E.C. Wells is it seems pretty likely he/she is from our line. Maybe this will give others something to think on. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am a Wells from the Wlm SR. & Eliz(s)abeth Livingston line. My was the son of Earl A. Wells m. Suz(s)y(ie) Burnett; the son of George Newton m. Lucinda P. Raines; the son of Pinckney E(?) m. Nancy Ford, the son with whom Wlm Sr. resides in Ill prior to his death per the census records. I am trying to determine who the father of William Sr., John Allen, Hasten, Jonathon, Nebraska & Dicey are....I have determined that Mr. Wells applied for a license to marry in NJ, his first son, John Allen was born there, after that Wlm (his bro-who is not called sr or jr yet) is born in Chester, PA & John Allen married Hannah L. then a few years later Wlm married Eliz. L & almost immediately the Wells men relocated to Giles Co. Tn. They were there from about 1805 to 1820 then went thru alabama, I believe some of the kids were born there, then on to Ill, where the majority of them appear to have stayed. Jonathon's family may have stayed in TN but John Allen & Hannah moved to Mi! ssissippi evidently. For some reason several sites have the William who was married to Westmoreland as the father of Wlm, Sr. but it does not appear that is the case. Our Wells men are also infamous for naming kids after them, My dad Johnnie Newton, my bro Johnnie Edward, my nephew Johnnie Lee, My great nephew Johnnie Allen.... crazy huh... also my dad & his Dollie married a bro & sis, Suzie & Rueben Burnett.... If you have any more info I would love to see it... I will share if I find any more... thx, & have a great day! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
