    3. Leroy Wayne Fry, 86, of DuQuoin and formerly of Mt. Vernon, Centralia and Champaign, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at 5:07 a.m. in Fair Acres Nursing Home, DuQuoin. Mr. Fry was born on Sept. 21, 1924, in Mt. Vernon, a son to Alva Roy and Rutha May (Fry) Fry. On Nov. 13, 1943, he married Dolores Lee Funkhouser in Charleston, S.C., where he was proudly serving his country in the United States Navy as a medical technician; and she survives. He was a salesman and sales manager of DuQuoin Packing Company and had also worked as an account executive for Roth Packing, Waterloo, Iowa. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, DuQuoin, where he served his Lord in several capacities, the last as a teacher of the Ruth Sunshine Class. He was also a member of the Kiwanis, DuQuoin American Legion, Marshall Browning Hospital Auxillary and a volunteer for the DuQuoin Food Pantry. He loved woodworking, golf, walking, calligraphy, auctions and flea markets and his church. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Fry of DuQuoin; two daughters, Lynette Louise "Lyn" Roof of Springfield and Deborah Gail Bunton of DuQuoin; three grandsons, Christopher Wayne Bunton, Bradd Aaron Roof and Dennis Bunton (fiancée, Missy Watts and her children, Zack, Logan, and Raegan); three great-grandchildren, Brittany, Michele, and Brooklyn; two brothers, Kenneth Fry of Mt. Vernon and Onis Roy Fry (life partner, Wally) of Miami Beach, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Michael Bunton; four sisters, Dorothy Smith, Mildred Woods, Gladys Derry and Evelyn Highsmith; and one brother, Donald Fry, in infancy. Mr. Fry's request was to be cremated. No funeral service will be held.     3. Joseph C. Wayer, 82, of Waukegan, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan. Joe was born Jan. 14, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo. and married Mary Ann Petkovsek on Jan. 10, 1953, in Waukegan. He retired from Johns-Manville in 1992 after 44 years of employment as inspector of quality control. Joe was a member of St. Dismas Church in Waukegan where he had been head usher for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. Joe was an avid gardener and golfer and also enjoyed photography. In his early years, Joe had attended school in Mt. Vernon and played basketball for Woodlawn High School. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; three children, Kenneth and Norman Wayer of Waukegan and Donna Arzani and husband Ahmad of Gurnee; two grandchildren, Heather Paulson and Zachary Arzani; and brothers and sisters, Sylvester Wayer of St. Louis, Mo., Delores Rulevish of Centralia, Dorothy Kitowski of Nashville, Albert and John Wayer of Mt. Vernon and Raymond Wayer of Bluford. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gertrude Jurkowski in 2007 and Juliana Wayer in infancy; and a brother, Ignatius Wayer in infancy. Mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan, with Fr. Patrick Rugen officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.     3. GRANDAUGHTER OF Mary KING PAYNE and Roscoe PAYNE Great Grandaughter of Daniel J. KING and Laura LOVIN KING DAHLGREN - Eutrenia Kay Stapf, 49, of Jeffersonville, Ind., died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, from a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born Feb. 1, 1961, in Harvey to Ralph David Kelly Sr. and Ruth Payne. She was raised in both Chicago and Dahlgren before moving to New Port Ritchey, Fla., where she met and married Carl John Stapf. They had a daughter, Nicole Stapf, and shortly after moved to Jeffersonville. Trenia was a member of Rolling Fields Baptist Church. She enjoyed sketching, poetry and spending time with family. She is survived by her husband, daughter, mother and a brother, Ralph David Kelly Jr.; two stepsons; six stepgrandchildren, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in the Dahlgren and Mt. Vernon area. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph D. Kelly Sr., and her grandmother Mary Payne, both of Dahlgren. Trenia chose to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at Dahlgren Baptist Church with Brother Chuck McCormick officiating. Following the service, per Trenia's wishes, a potluck will be served at the fellowship hall. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at the church or potluck to help fulfill Trenia's wish that her daughter complete her college degree.

    3. MT. VERNON - George C. French, 76, of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday morning, Nov. 4, 2010, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on March 11, 1934, in Bluford, the son of Stanley Robert and Juanita Elizabeth (Greenwalt) French. He married Reva C. Scott on Oct. 4, 1953, at the bride's parents home. Mr. French was the service manager for Bayer Oldsmobile dealer for many years. He attended Campground Grade School and graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School. He loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church at East Salem Baptist Church and enjoyed old cars and mowing grass. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching baseball with his son Steve. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. In addition to his wife, Reva French of Mt. Vernon, he is survived by his children, Brenda Loyd and husband Roger of Scheller, Steven French of Mt. Vernon and Linda Breeze and husband Brian of Bluford; his grandchildren, Nicole, Melissa, and Cindy Loyd and Luke and Matthew Breeze; a sister, Betty Southerd and husband Bob of Texico; an aunt, Margie Michael and husband Kenneth of Centralia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter. His funeral service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Richard McCormick and Leland Redfern officiating.     3. VERNON - Harold D. Patterson, 72, of Dix, died at 11:03 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born on Tuesday, March 1, 1938, in Beecher City, the son of Gerald and Vera (Sproat) Patterson. He married Marilyn A. Hamilton on Sept. 20, 1959, in Vandalia; and she survives in Dix. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Allen Patterson and wife Melissa of Woodlawn; three grandchildren, Matt, Marc and Morgan Patterson all of Woodlawn; a sister, Carol Walters and husband David of Lake Placid, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Harold was an insurance adjuster for 25 years and delivered flowers for Lena's Flowers and Things in Mt. Vernon during his retirement.     3. Francis "Bud" Riley and Nancy (Marlow) Riley of Mt. Vernon will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary today. They were married Nov. 2, 1960, at Oakdale Methodist Church by the groom's father, the late Rev. Lester Riley. Nancy is the daughter of the late Hall and Lucille Marlow. She is employed at Wal-Mart. Bud is the son of the late Rev. Lester and Bernice Riley. He is semi-retired and drives for Webber Township High School. Bud and Nancy are the parents of four daughters, Anita Riley of Mt. Vernon, Linda Riley of Bluford, Laura (Riley) and Troy McKinney of Jacksonville, N.C., and Carla (Riley) and James Harrah of Opdyke. They have two granddaughters, Ashley Riley of Mattoon and Kassidee Harrah of Opdyke; three grandsons, Aaron Riley of Bluford and Wyatt and Morgan McKinney of Jacksonville, N.C.     3. MT. VERNON - Ashley Lynn Piercy and Douglas Richard Hoffman were united in marriage on Oct. 16, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. Ashley is the daughter of Greg and Gaye Piercy of Texico, and Zeke and Cheryl Lopez of Dix. Douglas is the son of Dr. Daniel and Linda Hoffman of Mt. Vernon. The church was beautifully decorated with ivory roses and purple lisianthus flowers. Fresh greenery was entwined with two gold candelabras. Ivory satin bows accented with ivory roses adorned the church pews. Wedding music was played by a string quartet. Scripture passages were read by George Hoyt, uncle of the bride; Steve Hoffman, uncle of the groom; and Adam Breeze, friend of the couple. The bride, given in marriage by her mother and father, wore an embellished illusion cap sleeve satin A-line gown with an appliquéd pick up skirt and chapel train, with a metallic embroidered bodice accented with crystals, beads and sequins. Her veil, which was a gift from her grandparents, was made of lace with scalloped trim, adorned with teardrop crystals that matched her crystal tiara. The bridal bouquet consisted of ivory roses, variegated pittosporum and embellished with hues of purple. The maid of honor was Jessica Whisenhunt, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Alicia Barnes, friend of the bride; Keli Lawson, friend of the bride; Sarah Mooney, friend of the bride; and Lindsay Piercy, sister-in-law of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Kelsey Hoyt and Robbi Ross, cousins of the bride. Flower girl was Zoe Stoecker, cousin of the groom. The attendants and junior bridesmaids wore a strapless, beaded, eggplant floor-length gown, and carried a bouquet similar to the bride's bouquet. The flower girl's dress was identical to the bride's gown. The groom wore a black tuxedo with a black vest and black striped tie. His groomsmen, ushers and ring bearer wore a matching black tuxedo with an eggplant colored vest and striped tie. The best man was Kris Kmitta, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Colin Kirkpatrick, friend of the groom; Eric Hoffman, brother of the groom; Jason Caraway, friend of the groom; and Matthew Piercy, brother of the bride. Ring bearer was Matthew Hoffman, cousin of the groom. Ushers were Bob Bodach, friend of the groom, and Collin Hoyt, cousin of the bride. Guestbook and program attendants were Rene Lewis and Amanda Hutchison, friends of the bride. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon. Gold and ivory tablecloths with eggplant runners covered the tables. Tables were ornately decorated with tall ivory and purple floral arrangements and also white pumpkins with smaller floral arrangements. Lighted votive candles and small white pumpkins were placed on the tables throughout the performance hall. Four large floral arrangements stood elegantly behind the bridal party table. A swan ice sculpture also adorned the performance hall. Guests enjoyed light hors d'oeuvres, dinner and candy from the couple's candy table. The four-tiered wedding cake was made by Janice Shelton. Between each tier were ivory roses and purple lisianthus flowers. The cake was designed of freehand scrollwork and button pearls. The groom's cake was designed and resembled a stack of four law books. Servers were Teresa Hoyt and Paula Ross, aunts of the bride. The couple spent their honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii. The Hoffmans reside in Mt. Vernon.

    3. Debbie James, 59, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 6:18 A.M. on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Debbie was born on Friday, March 16, 1951 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the daughter of the late Kenneth O. and Noma F. (Richardson) Compton. She married Rick James on March 14, 1988 in Nashville, Tennessee. Surviving family members include her husband: Rick James of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 sons: Kenneth Stephen Neal and wife Mindy of Dahlgren, Illinois and Derrick James of Belle Rive, Illinois; granddaughter: Alexis Neal of Dahlgren, Illinois; brother: Vint D. Compton and wife Sheila of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister: Rhonda Compton Flannigan and husband Don of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; nephew: Coty Compton of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; niece: Leigha Gajewski and husband Jeremy of Scheller, Illinois. Her parents and one brother: Kenneth Stephen Compton preceded her in death. Debbie was Social Services Director at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center; she loved her dogs: Dixie, Baby Ozzy and Lacey and she attended Belle Rive Christian Church VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Belle Rive Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois.
