Jane Ailene Mostyn, age 84, of Mt. Vernon and a former resident of Chicago passed away at 9:54 a.m. Tuesday November 9, 2010 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Jane was born August 21, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of John A. and Catherine (McBride) Keckeisen. She married Martin C. Mostyn Jr. on April 23, 1946 and he preceded her in death on February 2, 1982. Jane was the Executive Director for the Uptown Chamber of Commerce and later the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce in Chicago. She retired in 1997, after many years of service. She also served as President of the Edgewater Community Council in late 1970's and was an active member of her Chicago community for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge 755. Jane is survived by six children, Katie Butler of Bolingbrook, IL, Martin Mostyn III and wife Cynthia of Monroe, Ohio, Jane and husband Ed Joslin of Mt. Vernon, Timothy Mostyn and wife Deborah of Mt. Vernon, IL, Dennis Mostyn and wife Deborah of Bolingbrook, IL and Richard Mostyn and wife Migdalia of Houston, Texas; one foster daughter, Maria Mills of Manito, IL, and her brother, John A. Keckeisen of Mt. Vernon; nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Mostyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Mary Eileen Mostyn and Margaret "Peggy" DeLeonardis. A celebration of life service will be held 12 noon Friday, November 12, 2010 at Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge NO. 755 (800 Broadway Street Mt. Vernon, Illinois) Rev. Dennis Mostyn will officiate. Interment will be held on a later date in the All Saints Cemetery Des Plaines, IL. Buried in Pleasant Hill Cem. He was the son of William Smith (1811-1880). James married Delilia O. (Vickemore) Owens 1881 Jeff. Co. According to this marriage record this was his 4th marriage. According to his obit it states he had a surviving son and a daughter but they were un-named. I believe that the son may have been Jos. H. Smith born 10 Mar 1869 Jeff. Co.-16 May 1922 Clinton Co., Ill. Married Della (Moore) Gobble 1914 Bond Co., Ill. His death record states his father was Jim Smith born Mt. Vernon, Ill. and mother was America Moore born Ill. I've found a marriage for James Smith to America Moore 10 Feb 1867 Marion Co., Ill. I can not find an America Moore on the 1860 census nor can I find James, America and children in the 1870 census. I'm told that James Smith may have married Lydia Lyle but I can't find this marriage. In any case I'm still trying to find his other two marriages and info. on his son and daughter. WALTONVILLE - Charles Ray Hall, 71, of Bonnie, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at his home. He was born in Waltonville on May 18, 1939, the son of John & Vada (Marlow) Hall. He married June Merriman on May 18, 1960, at the home of the Rev. Marsh Harpole; and she survives. He was member at Nason Free Will Baptist Church. After he retired, he got to do what he wanted to. He was a mechanic and ran Hall's Lawn Mower Repair for many years. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hall is survived by two sons, Kenneth Hall and Curtis Hall and wife Renee; a daughter, Shirley Zerr; grandchildren, Andrea Skropka and husband Robbie, Gregory, Jordan, Matthew, Christina and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Aidan, Trevin, Canaan and Wesley; a brother, Lloyd Hall and wife Marilyn; and three sisters, June Friar and husband John, Carolyn Sue Smith and husband Elza; and Marilyn Kay Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen; and a sister, Margaret. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with the Rev. John Capps officiating. Interment will follow at Abner Cemetery in Nason. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Carolyn Sue Sharp, 70, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 7:02 P.M. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at her daughter's home in Schaumburg, Illinois. Everett M. Clark of Gilberts Funeral services for Everett M. Clark, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. Burial will be private. (nee Pierce) Clark, he died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. On March 27, 1954, he married Velma Irene "PeeWee" Birkhead. Everett was a 47-year resident of the Gilberts area and a former longtime heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #150 and an Army veteran. Survivors include his children, Crystal (Glen "Butch") Varney of Huntley, Patricia (Robert "Bob") Walser of Schaumburg and Everett Jr. "Bub" (Laura Kunold) Clark of Gilberts. Everett is also survived by his grandchildren, Douglas, Angela, Heather, Aslin, Nathan, Collin and Stephanie; his great-grandchildren, Colton, Kailyn, Carter, Logan and Emily; his longtime friend and former daughter-in-law, Kim Kunold-Clark, his sister, Dorothy (Paul) Wheeler of DeKalb; and brother, Randall (Donna) Clark of Georgia. His parents, Judson and Hazel preceded him in death. John was retired from AT&T after 34yrs. and was an avid golfer who thoroughly enjoyed the game. MT. VERNON - Veralee Wilcox, 89, of Shelbyville, died at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Wilcox was born on Feb. 14, 1921, in Keenes, the daughter of William Everett and Ora Mae Shaw Burkitt. She worked in garment factories for many years and later cleaned homes in Shelbyville. Veralee was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Pana. She married Guy E. Wilcox on March 30, 1941, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 2007. Surviving are her son, Glenn Wilcox and wife Madeline of Mode; daughter, Carolynn Wilcox of Shelbyville; three sisters, Lela Pierce of Bluford, Alice French of Belvidere and Ruth Witzel of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guy; sister, Nadine Grunder; and brothers, John, Dale and Lowell Burkitt and one in infancy. Susan Michelle Hamilton, 65, of Gladstone, Mo., and formerly of Belle Rive, passed on Oct. 25, 2010. A memorial service will be held at Sugar Camp Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Nov. 13. She is survived by her husband, Charles T. Hamilton; her son, John Salazar; daughters Faustina Price, Denise M. Walther, Kathleen Salazar and Jeannetta L. Salazar; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
