Marlin R. Hart, age 75, of Belleville, Illinois, formerly of Centralia and Mt. Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:15 A.M. on Friday, December 17, 2010 in Freeburg, Illinois. He was born on September 1, 1935, in Mount Vernon, Illinois the son of Dwight Hart and Edna (Robinson) Hart. He married Shelvia Jean Lawson on February 4, 1955 in Centralia, Illinois and she preceded him in death on November 9, 1977 at the age of 39. Mr. Hart is survived by his son Recil A. Hart and wife Linda of St. Jacobs, Illinois, 3 daughters Carol Arbing of Swansea, Illinois, Mandy Ledbetter and husband Mike "JR" of Granite City, Illinois, and Carrie Schlesinger and husband Charles of Belleville, Illinois, 5 grandchildren Keith Schlesinger and wife Lisa, Jason Schlesinger and wife Starr, Kyle Naliborski, Andrew Ledbetter and Nick Daniels, 6 great grandchildren Carly, Madalyn, Dallas, Rease, Piper and Justice, 1 brother Roy Hart and wife Pat of Centralia, Illinois, 1 sister Mary Meier of Hoffman, Illinois and nieces and nephews. Mr. Hart is preceded in death by his parents and wife. Mr. Hart was one of the best known competitors of flat track motorcycle racing. He spent his early years as an amateur motorcycle racer and mechanic competing on weekends. After the love of his life passed away, He pursued his love of racing full time. He then developed The Hart Racing Team and built some of the fastest motorcycles for some of the best flat track racers in the United States for 32 years. Motorcycle enthusiasts have long known him as a source of parts and irreplaceable knowledge, thats "if" he cared to share that knowledge with you. Mr. Hart was modest in his achievements. He will be long remembered and envied for the speed and quality of the motorcycles he built. Those of you who knew him well know that "the easiest thing to replace on that motorcycle is the rider." He can never be replaced in our hearts. He was a life time member of the American Motorcycle Association. He enjoyed watching Nascar. Everett was born September 24, 1920 at Orchardville, IL to Fred and Edna B. (Allen) Donoho. He first married Dorothy Marie Slover Aug. 6, 1946 at Mt. Vernon, IL and she preceded him in death October 20, 1978. He later married Norma Louise Allen at Johnsonville, IL May 20, 1979 and she preceded him in death October 24, 2001. Everett was a retired carpenter and farmer; a WWII veteran and a member of Needmore Christian Church at Orchardville, IL. Everett is survived by one daughter Hazel Dial (& her husband Steve) of Carbondale, IL; one step-son Lyle Allen (& his wife Marjorie) of Cisne, IL; one sister Elsie Sharp of Keenes, IL; two brothers Eugene Donoho of Iuka, IL and Leonard Donoho of Orchardville, IL. Also surviving are two granddaughters, four great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, three step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren, one step great-great granddaughter. Melvin E. "Mel" Green, 64, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 12:33 A.M. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at his home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was born on Sunday, June 9, 1946 in Evansville, Indiana the son of the late Andrew and Mabel (Harrell) Green. Surviving family members include his special friend and companion: Christine Campbell of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 sisters: Sharon Neabuhr of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Louise Newton of Evansville, Indiana; several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents, two brothers: Andrew Green, Jr. and Emmett Harrell, Jr. and one sister: Grace Ruston preceded him in death. Mel was employed as a supervisor at Olsen Magnetic in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, was later an insurance agent and most recently had worked at Lowe's of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and was of the Baptist faith. SULLIVAN - Martha E. Johnson, 90, of Sullivan and formerly of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010. Martha was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Urbana, the daughter of Roy and Clara (Frances) Whitney. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Martha loved Jesus and was very artistic. She spent a lot of time painting, making shadow boxes and miniature items for those shadow boxes. She married Dean R. Johnson in 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1996. Martha is survived by her son, Larry (Glenda Taylor) Johnson of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Tammy K. (Ryan) Prince, Jeffery Dean Johnson and Sheli Lyn (Andy) Graven; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Mariah Graven and Gentry Prince; brother, Robert A. (Lillian) Whitney and lifelong friend, Mary Hamman. Her special sayings were "143" (I Love You); and "Live Laugh Love Often." Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. until the service time at 3 p.m. in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will follow in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg. Fairchild of Fort Worth, Texas; a twin sister, Lulabelle Harrington of McLeansboro; a granddaughter, Jessica Wagoner; two grandsons, Derick Royce James and Steve Neal; and four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Bailey, Rushdon and Rori. Annabelle was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister; and a daughter-in-law, Debbie James. Mildred M. Jenkins, 89, of Nebo, Ky., and formerly of Wayne City, died at 3:55 a.m. Dec. 19, 2010, at Palmers Place, Providence, Ky. She was born on Dec. 3, 1921, in Wayne County, the daughter of Sam and Hettie Woods Braddock. She married Daniel Jenkins who preceded her in death, and later married Gene Hawkins, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Danny Wayne Jenkins of Nebo, Ky.; a step son, Larry Hawkins of Rockerter, Minn.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister Eunice Lane of Bluford. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker and retired from Esmon Wood Grocery. She was a member of Eastern Star 563 in Wayne City. She was a member of Wayne City Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the graveside at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City with the Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Mr. Linville was a mechanical engineer for more than 30 years starting at Ralston-Purina then at DuPont Chemical until his retirement. Vernon, Ill., 55, 56, 57 Chevy Club and volunteered for the AARP assisting local seniors with their income taxes.
