Saturday, January 8, 2011 at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, Missouri. She was born on Wednesday, November 5, 1952 in Moweaqua, Illinois, a daughter to the late Melvin & Margie (Dougan) Abrams. She married Charlie D. Shelton on February 13, 1971 in Ina, Illinois and he survives in Waltonville along with three Sons: Charlie Shelton, Jr. of Waltonville, Illinois, Melvin Shelton and Special Friend Dary of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Billy Shelton and fiancee Darion of Waltonville, Illinois; two Daughters: Kelly Baltzell and husband Don of Opdyke, Illinois and Pam Baltzell of Bluford, Illinois; five Grandchildren: Donovan and Jordan Baltzell, Cody Shelton and Allie Jo Painter, and Bentlea Shelton (expected soon); one Brother: Marvin Abrams of Mount Vernon, Illinois; one Sister: Melva Abrams of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and two Stepbrothers: Jan Isom and wife Renee of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Tom Isom of Ina, Illinois. Several Nieces and Nephews also Survive. Her parents, stepmother: Joann Abrams, one brother: Roger Abrams and one sister: Sandra Louis Abrams preceded her in death. ***Mary Jane was a bookkeeper for, and owned and operated Charlie's Automotive in Mount Vernon with her husband.*** **VISITATION will be from 5 to 8:00 P.M.     3. Mark William Flowers age 50 of Mt. Vernon, IL passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at his home in Mt. Vernon. Mark was born on July 16, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri a son of Kenneth and Elaine (Koppen) Flowers. Mark was a truck driver and attended Casey Avenue Baptist Church. Mark is survived by one daughter Melissa Flowers of Mt. Vernon; his father Kenneth of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Roger D. Flowers and wife Sherri of Mt. Vernon; and one special cousin Sharon and husband Fred Dalmau of Santa Clara, California. He was preceded in death by his mother. Graveside Funeral Services for Mark Flowers will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday January 13, 2011 at the Griffith Cemetery in Brownstown, IL with Rev Rob Dyer officiating. I talked to my father. He says that Genette was his Aunt and Sister of Cora? Twins ran in the family. James Runnels went by Jim Runnels. He says that the family of Runnels and Picketts were buried in the same cementary. Harley Runnels went by Onnie. He says that some of the Picketts and Runnels lived in the Poor something in Mt.     3. MT. VERNON - Mike McGannon, 71, of Mexico, Mo., died at 8:50 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Missouri Veterans Home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Mike was born on May 13, 1939, in Flora, a son of John Joseph and Ruby Evelyn (Powless) McGannon. He graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School and went on to receive his bachelor of science degree in business from St. Louis University. In 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. On Aug. 17, 1963, in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Carbondale, he married Susan Kaye Odum, who survives at the home. Mr. McGannon was a businessman and civic leader. During his career he served as president of Optec D.D. U.S.A. Inc. for North American operations. He was the senior vice president and general manager of Optec. D.D. U.S.A. Inc. from 1989 - 1992. He was appointed as the president and COO of Optec in 1992; and as chairman of Optec D.D. U.S.A. Inc. for North American Operations in 1995. He had previously served as vice president of Illini Federal Savings and Loan, Alton, and president of First Federal Savings and Loan, Cape Girardeau, Mo. Mike had served as the president of the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce and he was the recipient of the Chamber's Col. C.R. Stribling Jr. Community Service Award. He served on the Mexico City Council, having served as mayor, was a director of the First National Bank of Mexico, served on the Mexico School Board, was a member of Progress Mexico, the Mexico Rotary Club, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, the Associated Industries of Missouri, the Japan America Society, the Audrain Medical Center Foundation, Missouri Military Board of Visitors, was active in St. Brendan Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and served on the committee that established the Advanced Technology Center in Mexico. In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by one son, Michael C. McGannon and Rhonda, Columbia; one daughter, Michelle Lynch and Jason R., Glasgow, Ky.; one brother, Tom McGannon and Michelle, Oklahoma City; and three grandchildren, Kelly Lynch, Ryan Lynch, and Charlie McGannon. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby McGannon; and a brother, James Durland McGannon. Memorials may be made to the Mexico Animal Shelter and sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.pickeringfh.com.
