(Parkhill) Cross to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married Jan. 31, 1951, in Mt. Vernon by the late W. O. Page, justice of the peace. They have seven children, Viola with Rusty, Betty with Mike, Pauline with Janice, Mary Jo with Keith, Bud with Ellen, J.D. with Jeannie and Ray, who passed away Feb. 14, 1993. James and Mary have 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. All family and friends are invited, but cards or letters would be appreciated if you are unable to attend.     3. MT. VERNON - Bob and Elaine Schlau of Centralia and Gary and Cheryl Lankford of Walnut Hill are pleased to announce the marriage of Debra Sue Schlau to Stuart Kent Lankford. Debra and Stuart were married at 3 p.m. June 19, 2010, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Centralia with the Rev. Dr. Ed Evans officiating. The church was decorated with wreaths, glass green bows and bouquets of flowers. The bride wore a Maggie Sottero white strapless one-piece, corset gown with lace over delustered satin that was embellished with bugle beads, sequins and pearls with a sweep train. Her veil was waist length edged in crystals. Debra's maid of honor was Dorothy Klein, her future sister-in-law. Her bridesmaids were Shayla Birkner Marine, friend of the bride; Sarah Schlau, cousin of the bride; and Amber Lee, friend of the bride. The bride's attendants wore dresses of pool blue with ruching on one side and a corset back. The flower girl was Audrey Schlau, cousin of the bride and the ring bearer was Amber Lankford, second-cousin of the groom. Their dresses were glass green with a pool blue ribbon at the waist. Amber carried a pillow that had been hand made for Debra and Stuart by his aunt, Teri LeAnne McDonough. Stuart's best man was David Schlau, long time friend and now brother-in-law. His groomsmen were Jeremy McDonough, cousin of the groom, Patrick Stark, friend of the groom, and Jason Davis, friend of the groom. Philip and Stephen Carter, cousins of the bride, served as ushers. Travis Bush, friend of the groom, read scripture during the ceremony. Diana Brink played the piano during the ceremony. Parents entered the church to "Canon in D" by Pachelbel. The attendants processed in to "Eyes on Me" by Nobuo Uematsu. Debra was escorted down the aisle by her father to "Bridal March" as arranged by Jonathan Cain. The song "Sometimes" by Henry and Felice Mancini was played during the lighting of the unity candle and presentation of roses to the mothers. This song was sung many years ago at the wedding of Bob and Elaine Schlau, parents of the bride. Mallory Lankford, cousin of the groom, Lauren Carter, cousin of the bride, and Allison Schlau, cousin of the bride, assisted with programs, guest book and passing out cones of rose petals. A reception was held following the wedding at Mariner's Village Hall in Carlyle. The hall was decorated with candles and fresh flowers. The wedding cake featured a variety of flavors and was decorated with fresh flowers to match Debra's bouquet. Debra and Stuart entered the hall to the "Imperial March" from Star Wars. Following toasts by the honor attendants, they danced their first dance as husband and wife to "Amazed" by Lonestar. Music was provided by H & H Audio DJ. The bride is a 2002 graduate of Centralia High School and a 2007 graduate of McKendree University. She is currently employed as the general music teacher, and band and chorus director at Central City Grade School. She is the granddaughter of Gene and Nella Schlau of Centralia and Helen Carter Nance and the late Julian Carter and the step granddaughter of George Nance of Collinsville. The groom is a 2003 graduate of Centralia High School and a 2007 graduate of St. Louis University. He also earned his respiratory therapy certification through Kaskaskia College. He is currently employed by the Murphysboro Hospital Sleep Clinic. Stuart is the grandson of Ruth Lankford and the late William E. Lankford of Mt. Vernon and Marcella Peacock and the late Francis Peacock, also of Mt. Vernon.

He was born in Divide on Oct. 11, 1928, the son of Newton and Gladys "McKinney" Simmons. On June 19, 1951, in Kell, he married Dorothy Sanders and she survives in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Simmons was retired from Great Plains Gas Company. He attended Panther Fork School and graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a military policeman and was a member of the Mt. Vernon American Legion, Post #141. Mr. Simmons was a Member of Dix United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Simmons is survived by two children, Diana Lynn Jacobson and husband Robert of Mt. Vernon and Bruce Wayne Simmons and wife Tina of Divide; five grandchildren, Clinton Taylor and wife Kelley of Mt. Vernon, Dustin Simmons and wife Laura of Mt. Vernon, Andrew and John Jacobson of Edwardsville and Cory Simmons of Divide; three great grandchildren, Tucker and Taytum Taylor and Carleigh Rae Simmons all of Mt. Vernon and two sisters, Zella Kester of Ohio, and Evelyn Gipson of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with the Rev. Michael Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Jordan Chapel Cemetery in rural Texico.     3. Mary Ann Palm, 86, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born on Sunday, Feb. 24, 1924, in Birmingham, Ala., the daughter of James and Mable Lee (Shaw) Winchester. She married Robert Alfred Palm on Sept. 7, 1946, in West Allis, Wis., and he preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2006. In accordance with Mary's wishes, she is being cremated. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. She is survived by a son, Robert Lee (Rusty) Palm and wife Amber of Tuscon, Ariz.; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Longwell and husband Dr. Charles of Mt. Vernon and Catherine Ann Palm-Gessner and husband Dr. Robert of Prescott, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Dr. Charles Longwell III and wife Diana of Springfield, Kathleen Palm and fiance Kevin Summers of Oak Park and Elyse Hauge and husband Joe of Tuscon, Ariz.; her best buddy, "Tommy," her cat; a sister-in-law, Jean Plam of Munroe Falls, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was born Thursday, Jan. 21, 1943, in Philip, Texas, the daughter of Kenneth L. and Daphne (Harris) Schooler. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Christian Fellowship Church in Mt. Vernon with Scott Mattingly officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m until service time at the church. Pennellopie is survived by two sons, Jimmy F. Sheryl was born on Wednesday, February 14, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Merle Wilbern and Callie June (Lampley) Hutchison. She was never married.     3. Stanton Gale Foutch, 92, of Dix, passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 20ll, at Nature Trail Nursing Center in Mt. Vernon. He was born in Grand Prairie Township, Jefferson County, on Oct. 25, 1918, the son of Oscar and Maggie (Hails) Foutch. On April 19, 1947, he married Vera Mae (Copple) Foutch and she survives in Dix (Boyd). Stanton went to Gold Hill school and as a teenager, lived with and farmed for the Willis Garren Family. As an adult, he was a heavy equipment operator for Rome Township, then for Jefferson County, and then for the State of Illinois, during the construction of Interstate 57. He was also an avid gardener (known for making delicious lime pickles and pickled beets), a hunter, a fisherman, and after retirement he repaired lawn mowers and small engines at his home in Boyd. Stanton was a member and past deacon of Boyd Christian Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Nancy (Foutch) Beverstock and husband Jack of Linton, Ind.; four granddaughters, Melinda Beverstock of Brownsburg, Ind., Michele (Beverstock) Snider of Brownsburg, Ind., Leigh Anne (Hearl) Shields and husband Scott of Cumming, Ga., and Nanette (Hearl) Potter and husband Roy, Bargersville, Ind.; six great grandchildren, Kelly Shields and Brett Shields of Cumming, Ga., Jonathon (Yogi) Snider of Brownsburg, Ind., Isaac Beverstock of Brownsburg, Ind., Baleigh Anne Potter and R. J. Potter of Bargersville, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Marcelline, Aileen, Berniece and Wanda.     3. James Warren Donahoo, 91, of Good Samaritan Care Center, Cole Camp, MO, died February 5, 2010, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia, MO. Warren was born December 9, 1918 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the second son of George Washington Donahoo and Nina Elfreda (Wilson) Donahoo. On February 18, 1940, Warren was united in marriage to Miriam Marie (Myers) Lyles who preceded him in death September 25, 1990 after 50 years as husband and wife. On June 17, 1991, Warren married Cora Lillian (Vaughn) Hansen of Green Ridge, MO in Medina, TN, who survives of Good Samaritan Care Center. Warren moved to Colorado in the late 1930's and served in the Army Air Force where he was trained to be a pilot before honorably discharged to the Army Reserve in 1939. Later he was activated in 1944 until November 28, 1945, receiving an honorable discharge to civilian life. Warren lived a full life having many hobbies. He loved travel, camping, snow skiing, fishing and hunting. Warren was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Gideon Bible Society and the Grange of Paonia, CO. He was especially proud of his motorcycles, the favorite being his last one, an Indian Chief. He was a member of the Gravel Gremlins Motorcycle Club whose members annually on New Year's Eve rode to the summit of Pike's Peak and set off fireworks! Most important of all during these many activities Warren was very active as a teacher and deacon in his church serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Warren is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Clyde) Vailes, Medina, TN; his son, David (Jeannie) Donahoo, Buena Vista, CO; stepson, Melvin Hansen, Sedalia, MO; stepdaughters, Kathrine (Harold) Finke, Green Ridge, MO and Gaye (Jim) Sternberg, Las Vegas, NV; 17 grand and step-grandchilddren plus many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by granddaughter, Karen Vailes. There will be no family visitation. Memorial services will be held at a later date. The body will be cremated with the cremains interred in the cemetery at Paonia, CO. Vernon; his father, Don Donoho and wife Georgia of Bluford; one sister, Amanda and husband Travis Smarr of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two nephews, Joseph and Joshua Lee Urbaniak; his mother and father in law, Delmar and Patricia Mick of Mt. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Carol Woods; an infant sister, Jennifer Lynn Woods; his maternal grandparents, Ronald and Edna Chambliss; and his paternal grandparents, Lee and Louise Donoho.
