At the family's request, due to inclement weather predictions, graveside services will be rescheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Randy Sells officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Tuesday.     3. MT. VERNON - Alton E. Mack, 64, of Mt. Vernon, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born on Jan. 12, 1947, in McKinney, Texas, the son of Alton and Edna (Lindsey) Mack. He married Betty Tucker and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Mack is survived by a daughter, Rona Athey of Moore Park, Calif.; a son, Alton Mack of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Russell of McKinney, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Mack was a retired planner and estimator for the U.S. government. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam era. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

    3. I have her husband's parents as William Arthur French and Cecile Pearl Sandy. Cecile's parents are Homer Elmer Sandy and Della Mae Davis (from my Davis line).     3. DU QUOIN -- Alice D. "Pat" Wilks, 91, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, in Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin. Pat was a homemaker and had worked as a clerk at Bianco Drug Store in Du Quoin for 22 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin for more than 63 years, being one of the oldest members of the church. Pat had been a member of the church choir. She was a member of Crusaders Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women and the church nursing home ministry. And she loved to cook. She was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Sunfield, the daughter of Lester and Fleta (Terry) Morris. Pat married William A. "Bill" Wilks on Oct. 2, 1942, in Sunfield, and he preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1999. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Kirk and husband, Danny, of Du Quoin; son, Joe Gene Wilks and wife, Darla, of Mount Vernon; sister, Marge Schenk and husband, Roger, of Du Quoin; four grandchildren, William J. Wilks, Jonathan Wilks, Sarah Kirk, Amanda and Heather Kirk; two brothers-in-law. Kenneth Stockton and Kenneth Bird; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Morris and Phyllis Morris Blanchard; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Helen Pierce and Frances Bird; two brothers, Joe Morris and Gene Morris; one sister in infancy, Carol Marie Morris; and sister-in-law, Nina Stockton.     3. George Edward Bradley Jr. 73-year-old Fairfield resident, George Edward Bradley Jr., died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, January 30 at his home. He was a retired lineman for General Telephone. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, and Mason with Anthony Doherty Lodge #1111 in Cisne. Surviving are his wife Helen; one daughter, Darla Colwell of Flora; one son, George Edward Bradley III of Opdyke, IL; and three grandchildren. Masonic services for George Edward Bradley Jr. will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 1 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. The body is to be cremated following the service with ashes interred in Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.     3. Helen S. Roberson, age 86, of Bonnie died at 11:17am on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at her home in Bonnie with family and friends at her side. Helen was born April 14, 1924 in Bonnie, Illinois; a daughter of Wayman and Lela (Hughey) Sledge. She married Clyde A. Roberson on November 2, 1941 in Jackson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2009. Helen was employed at the International Shoe Company in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and later at The Bank of Sesser in Sesser, Illinois until her retirement. She was a member of the Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. Helen is survived by two sons, Ronald Roberson and wife Glenna of Scheller, Illinois and Rodney Roberson of Bonnie, Illinois; four grandchildren, Randy Roberson of Scheller, Rick Roberson of Effingham, Illinois, Chantel Lafontaine of LeRoy, Illinois, and Ryan Roberson and wife Trisha of Ridgecrest, California; five great grandchildren, Rowan and Seth Lafontaine and Morgan, Ryder, and Addison Roberson; and also two sisters Doris and husband Ray Newell of Bonnie and Virginia Cockrum of Sesser.     3. Ferrell E. Curell, age 92, of Mount Vernon, IL. passed away at 10:55 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Ferrell was born on February 23, 1918 in Robinson, Illinois a son of Elmer and Effie (Tennyson) Curell. He married Martha Barrick on June 10, 1939 in Vincennes, Indiana and she preceded him in death March 18, 1997. Mr. Curell worked as a Tire Salesman at Montgomery Ward for many years, and was member of the Central Christian Church. Ferrell was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Marine Corps. He is survived by one son, Kenneth Curell and wife Jene of Dayton, Ohio; three daughters, Jane Ann and husband Ronald Armstrong of St. Charles, MO, Julia and husband Larry Henn of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Ellen and husband Allan Payne of Mt. Vernon, IL; 11 grandchildren, Jean, Amy, Joshua, Grant, Grace, Shawn, Tina, Paul, Holly, Angela, and Tyler; 16 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and a special friend Mayaileen Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister Juanita Steward. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. He was the son of James Alfred and Florence (Chambliss) Rector, born May 10, 1923, in Mount Vernon, Ill. He was first married to Abcjean "BC" Burkett and later married Rita Hamlin. On Sept. 17, 1990 in Russellville, Ark. he married Catherine "Cathy" Christopher and she survives. Mr. Rector was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Emily Sorkin; seven sisters and brothers: Aline Rodgers, Harold, Alva "Ab" and Glen Rector, Mamie Karch Schmittler, Glenna Isaac and Maxine McDaniel; one niece, Carol Sue Karch of Mt. Vernon; one nephew, Harold Wayne Rector of Mt. Vernon; and his second wife, Rita (Hamlin) Rector Pijut. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He made both combat jumps with the 11th Airborne at Tagyatay Ridge and Luzon and one amphibious landing at Leyte. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Rogers-Rye Post #2238, Disabled American Veterans and the American Airborne Association. He was a neon specialist and owned Jimâ?Ts Neon Signs in Tucson, Ariz. and Dover, Ark A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at Humphrey Chapel in Russellville, Ark. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service, Russellville, Ark. Full military honors will be provided by Rogers-Rye VFW Post #2238.     3. John and Ann Howard of Mt. Vernon will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday. They were married Jan. 27, 1951, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Salem by the Rev. George E. Hoffman, and have resided in Mt. Vernon their entire married lives. John is the son of the late Harold and Janie Garrott Howard of Mt. Vernon, and Ann's parents, Rollin and Gena Martin Warner of Salem, are also deceased. The Howards have three children, the Rev. Nancy Hardin (Ed) of Urbana, Ohio, John W. Howard (Cheryl) of Westfield, Ind., and Barbara Lommen (Gerald) of Ballwin, Mo. They have seven grandchildren.
