    3. Roy Lee Robertson, Jr., 81, of Benton, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Immanuel Baptist Church of Benton with pastor Sammy Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton with military rites to be performed by the Benton American Legion Post #280, V.F.W. Post# 2671 and the Illinois National Guard. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Immanuel Baptist Church. Arrangements are with the Leffler-Poulson Funeral Home of Benton. Mr. Robertson was born on April 1, 1929, in Franklin, Missouri, the son of Roy Lee "Jim" Robertson, Sr., and Mable Gertrude (Quinley) Robertson. He was a retired over the road truck driver and had various other occupations including horse trainer, farmer, and Permit Agent for the Seismograph Exploration Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the First Baptist Church of West Frankfort. Survivors include a son, Kelly Robertson and wife Lori of Benton; a daughter, Chelsea Halbin of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, Matthew and Morgan Robertson of Benton and T.J., Cayce and Kylee Halbin of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Genevieve Griffin of Lyons, Kan., Gertrude Odil of Gladstone, Mo., and Velma and husband Eddie Moore of Columbia, Mo.; two brothers, Howard Robertson and wife Norma of Franklin, Mo., Carl Robertson of Shawnee, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Irene McQuitty and Helen Smith. Memorial contributions may be made to the organization or charity of the donor's choice.     3. Billie Eugene Fatheree 86-year-old Mt. Vernon, Illinois resident, Billie Eugene Fatheree, died on February 24th at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He served in the US Army during WWII and was owner of Ace Cleaners in Wayne City and Courtesy Cleaners in Mt. Vernon. He was a member of the Wayne City Masonic Lodge, past president of the Mt. Vernon Optimists Club, a member of Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, a past member of the First Christian Church of Wayne City, and a member of the Little Egypt Roadrunners Camping Club. Survivors include: two sons, Billy Ray Fatheree of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Keith Alan Fatheree of Girard, IL; one daughter, Lanna Kay Logan of Centralia; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a loving friend, Eva Lane of Fairfield and her caring family. Funeral Services for Billie Eugene Fatheree will held on Saturday, February 26th at the First Christian Church in Wayne City with burial in the Olive Branch Cemetery.     3. MT. VERNON - Glenn Delbert Smith, age 86, of Sandwich, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Fla. He was born June 14, 1924, in Chester, the son of Emza and Bernice (Walker) Smith. Glenn was united in marriage to the former Miss Carolyn Wells on Nov. 7, 1942, and they spent the next 68 happy years together. Glenn's passing marks the loss of one more member of America's Greatest Generation. Mr. Smith served his country proudly with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Sandwich. Mr. Smith was employed for many years as a welder. He was employed for several years at Barber Green in Aurora and was involved in the first building stage at Fermilab in Batavia. Glenn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be deeply missed by both family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life, Carolyn Smith of Sandwich; his children, Larry (Jeanne) Smith of Somonauk, and Shirley Izaguirre of Laguna Beach, Calif.; his five grandchildren; and his thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at the Cornerstone Church, 17347 Pratt Rd in Sandwich, with Pastor Paul Banister officiating.     3. MT. VERNON - Mary Ann Palm, 86, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:20 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born Sunday, Feb. 24, 1924, in Birmingham, Ala., to James Winchester and Mable (Lee) Shaw. She married Robert Alfred Palm on Sept. 7, 1946, in West Allis, Wisc. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Rob Dyer officiating. The Palm family will greet friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon. She is survived by a son, Robert Lee (Rusty) Palm and wife Amber of Tuscon, Ariz.; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Longwell and husband Dr. Charles of Mt. Mary Ann was a registered nurse, having graduated from the Columbia School of Nursing in Milwaukee, Wisc. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mary Ann moved from the south in 1932, to the Ely, Minn., area where her father was a camp supervisor for the Civilian Conservation Corp. This is where she learned her love of the north woods. After graduation from nurses' training, she married her husband in 1946. In 1958, the family moved to Naperville. Mary Ann worked for Wolf Medical Group, was active in Knox Presbyterian Church, was a Girl Scout leader, and was a volunteer at the historic Naper Village. She loved to paint, make porcelain dolls, read, and go on the yearly family camping trips out west. In 1986, she moved to Oswego, where she was active in the Oswego Presbyterian Church, and helped with Meals on Wheels. In 2002, she and her husband moved to Mt. Vernon. She spent eight very happy years at Greentree Assisted Living Apartments, making wonderful friends with the other residents and staff. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Washington University School of Medicine - Campus Box 8111, 4488 Forest Park Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108.     3. Juanita Rose Adams, 90, of Rock Falls, Illinois passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at her home following a long illness. Mrs. Adams was born Friday, September 17, 1920 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the daughter of the late Elmer John and Ruby (Richards) Hawkins. She was united in marriage to Roy Earl Adams on April 2, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri until his death on March 11, 1991. Surviving Mrs. Adams are two daughters: Donna Dodson and husband Charles of Sterling, Illinois and Sharon Bradford and husband Jimmie of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and one son: Roy Adams of Henderson, Nevada; eight grandchildren: Greg Dodson and wife Nancy of Kingwood, Texas, Cheri Lockhart and husband Dave of Sterling, Illinois, Brad Dodson and Chrystal Greaves of Rock Falls, Illinois, Riki Bradford and wife Buffie of Mint Hill, North Carolina, Ron Bradford and wife Elizabeth of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Rod Bradford of Akron, Ohio, Roy Adams and wife Jeannie of Sparks, Nevada and Laura Adams of Laguna Niguel, California; nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Wallace of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Nancy Gunn of Freeport, Maine; three brothers: Elmer Hawkins of Daytona Beach, Florida, Richard Hawkins of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Larry Hawkins and his wife Kay of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Ronnie Ray Adams and a grandson. Mrs. Adams was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Sterling. Mrs. Adams was also a past member of the VFW Auxiliary, the WWII Veterans Auxiliary, Rock Fall's Women's Club as a past vice president and was actively involved in the PTA and Brownies. Her father made the first crosses to be placed on the public square for Memorial Day. As a young girl she dropped poppies on markers during the nine first services. Wagner, 75, of Scheller, Illinois passed away 4:35 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville, IL Arthur was born February 11, 1936 in Scheller, Illinois the son of John F. and Clara (Gajewski) Wagner. He was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Scheller and the Mt. Vernon Knights of Columbus. Arthur was a farmer and helped out on the family farm. He was a "people person" and had no trouble making friends. She married Hulen Albert Littrell on November 17, 1938 in Marion County, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1973.     3. Rex Daily 61-year-old Dahlgren resident, Rex Daily, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, February 20 at his home. He was the Baptist Faith and was an operating engineer and over the road truck driver. He was a lifetime member of the Macedonia Lodge 1148, a member of the McLeansboro Elks Lodge 1882, and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam War. Survivors include: his wife, Fern Daily of Dahlgren; his mother, Mary Daily of Washington, IL; three brothers, Kenny Daily or Salem, IL, Ronnie Daily of East Peoria, IL, and Jeff Daily of Salem, IL; one sister, Kim Hammond of Washington, IL; 5 nieces; 3 nephews; one great nephew; 3 grandchildren; two stepsons, Bill Phillips of Pekin, IL, and Kirk Phillips of Mt. Vernon, IL; and special friends, Ellen Leighsty, Zane Clagg, and Diana Coleman, all of Dahlgren. Funeral Services for Rex Daily will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23rd at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Masonic Service to be conducted at 1:00 p.m. by Macedonia Lodge 1148 A.F. and A.M. By personal request, he will be cremated and a Private Family Burial of Ashes will follow at a later date. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23rd at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Those attending are asked to wear jeans.     3. Donald "Buck" Rodgers, 73, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:59 A.M. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Buck was born on Monday, December 20, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the son of the late Melvin "Red" Rodgers and Chestine (Bradley) Rodgers. Surviving family members include his daughter: Tracey Maxedon and husband Glenn of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Michael Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 granddaughters: Ashley Lehde and fiance Matt Sweeten of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Molly Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Tonya Maxedon of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; great granddaughter: Allie Sweeten of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 sisters: Shirley Belmont of Bluford, Illinois and Mary Green and husband Charles of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; special friend: Debbie Mezo of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; special lifelong friend: Myrna Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at the church. Memorials to Murdale Baptist Church are the preferred form of remembrance and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home, which is assisting the family with the arrangements.     3. MT. VERNON - Wendell Hugh Lisenby, 57, of Centralia, died at 5:17 p.m., on Saturday, Feb.19, 2011, at Herrin Hospital. He was born in Mt. Vernon on Feb. 8, 1954, the son of Hugh William Lisenby and Maybell Minor Lisenby Friend. Mr. Lisenby is survived by a brother, Jerry Lisenby and wife Wanda of Bluford; two sisters, Shirley Hayes and husband James of Mt. Vernon and Joyce Lynch and husband Douglas of Carlinville; a brother-in-law, Thomas A. Bain of Mt. Vernon;a stepsister, Ruth Melton and husband Junior of Richview; a stepsister-in-law, June Friend of Centralia; several nieces and nephews; and many friends including a special friend, Ron Honecker of Centralia. Mr. Lisenby was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Deloris Bain; stepfather, Martin Friend; and a stepbrother, Jerry Friend. As per his wishes, his body was cremated and no public services will be held. Memorial may be made to the East Salem Cemetery and will be received at Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.     3. MT. VERNON - Velma L. Wilson, 89, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the Friendship House of Centralia. She was born on Feb. 10, 1922, the daughter of Aubrey and Minnie (Ploesser) Borman. She married Leslie Wilson on Aug. 28, 1943, in Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Wilson retired from the Florsheim Shoe Factory as a shoe cutter. She is survived by a sister, Wanda Peper of Centralia; a nephew, Kent Peper and wife Mary Ellen of Walnut Hill; a great niece, Emma Peper; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Bro. Brad Hensen officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
