Brad and Sandy (Cook) Jones, of Bonnie, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary today. The couple were married March 22, 1986, by the late Rev. Rudolph Schlag, at East Side Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. Brad is the son of Dolly and David Jones, of Bonnie. Sandy is the daughter of Barbara and the late Donald Cook, formerly of Ina and now of Woodlawn. Brad and Sandy are the proud parents of two sons, Andrew Jones and wife Linzy of Benton and Randy Jones of Bonnie. The couple celebrated with a family dinner and have planned a trip this summer to celebrate the occasion.

Vernon, a daughter of Seburn W. and Addie (Hirons) Mannen. She married Vaughn Neil Chaney on May 1, 1941, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2001. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Mrs. Chaney is survived by two daughters, Ann Futch and husband T.G. of La Madra, N.M. and Janice C. Sanders and husband Gary of St. Louis, Mo.; a grandson, Matthew C. Young and wife Elizabeth of New York; and twin great-grandchildren, Vaughn and Margaret Young of Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Helen was a retired elementary teacher from District 80. She began her teaching career at Drivers School, riding there on horseback. Later she taught at Bell Rive and Opdyke schools. Helen received her bachelors and masters degree from SIU Carbondale and was a member of Joel Pace Chapter of D.A.R. MT. VERNON - Mark Stephen Satterfield, 57, of Valdosta, Ga., died Wednesday, March 24, 2011, at Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Mt. Vernon Dec. 24, 1953, and had lived in Valdosta for the past 10 years. Mr. Satterfield served three years in the United States Army and retired in July 2010 from Altria Sales. His passion was golf and traveling. Mark was a devoted husband for 34 years to his wife, Ann and will be sadly missed by many family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Ann Satterfield of Valdosta, Ga.; his parents, Pete and Betty Satterfield of Mt. Vernon; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Nancy Satterfield of Brunswick, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Kevin Brookman of Mt. Vernon; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Becherer of Mt. Wesley V. Conner, 87, "Went to be with the Lord" on March 23, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. Wesley was born on Nov. 18, 1923, the son of Isaac and Addie (Dethrow) Conner. He married Bertha Erma Lee (Cockrum) on July 19, 1942, and she survives. Wesley was a member of the Rescue Free Will Baptist for 52 years and was choir director for 37 of those years. He was a World War II veteran and did nursing to those soldiers who were severely injured during World War II. Mr. Conner is survived by his wife, Erma Lee Conner of Benton; daughters, Katie and Jerrel Dungy of Ewing, Ruth and Kern Kirk of Logan, and Paula Tate and Jim Briscoe of Benton; seven grandchildren, Karen Kay Dungy and Albert Margelli, Rhea Eva and Joey Hutchcraft, Matthew and Andrea Dungy, Eric Kirk and Kelly Yearack, Tom and Amanda Kirk, Erin Moore and Jason Bennett, and Molly Tate; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Stanley, Raymond, Paul, Lendell and Joseph; and one sister, Lucille Houseworth.
